Beach Flower Photo Tips

I wanted to share how I treated my photos for the Beach Flower Album. Thanks for all your comments!
I kind of cheated. I used Mulletgods free Vintage White action. There are a lot of great actions that I love to play around with.
This is what my photo looked like before -

The photo after I applied the Vintage White Action -
APPLIED VINTAGE WHITE ACTION
 

Then I turned off the CURVES 1 layer.


 I then targeted the original layer. And selected Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Selective Colour

 

To bring more of the purple out from my daughters top I selected the magenta colour on the palette. Selecting the black will affect the lightness and darkness of any magenta in your photo. Selecting the other colours will add to the magenta in your photo. So you could end up having a cold or warm tone of magenta.

On the same window, I adjusted the yellow and red in my photo, to bring out more glow in my daughters skin. Then I chose the black colour to subtlety lighten the overall image.

Here's some advice on creating a layout.

Keep It Simple. You dont always have to create a masterpiece.

This is how I used them with my latest mink kit - BEACH FLOWER. Inspired by my little indian beach flower!

Cookie Monster... the Pixel Canvas Mascot

He sits on my printer and cheers me on, when time get rough around Pixel Canvas.
Well not really, he just encourages me to eat more cookies! And yes, Pixel Canvas is down again, and I think I'll deal with it by treating myself to an Afghan Biscuit or five. By the way, Foodtown do the best Afghans!

Cathy Zielske's Template, New Kit and Freebie

I could not resist putting Cathy Zielske's new template in my shopping cart last night... well its kind of new. I just saw her latest template on her blog. And it looks great!


I know some of you might be thinking why buy templates... you can make them yourself. But when you have a lot of catching up to do, you do need all the help you can get. Catching Up

I have a lot of catching up to do on my albums. I am so behind this years one, and I need to tweak a few things on last years one too. So I wont be designing much products for a while, I have neglected my albums for far too long. I will be guesting at another store next month and I have a collection for the Catwalk at Catscrap, so you'll get some pixels then.

I'll be posting my projects in the gallery, so you will still see me around. I am having a lot of fun with it, I think this years album will have a lot more flow and consistency. Here's a few pages I've done already -

A Piece Of Art For My Wall

This is all done digitally, by the way. And yes, I am really proud of it! I got it done at Snapfish, when they had a father days special a while ago. The size is 50x100 cms

The problem I have right now is this, I don't have a place to hang it. My walls need to be painted or wallpapered.. not sure which one to do.
At the moment our house is being renovated. This is a part of our living room -

I want to get rid of the cream walls. I have this colour scheme in mind for the room-

I want something similar to that light brown colour on my walls. And that teal colour, in small amounts around the room with accessories.

Got the couch, got the artwork, now I need to paint, buy a rug and accessorize! Should be finished by the end of... next month? Then I can hang my lovely art work.
